The Easypaisa Logo is one of the most recognized symbols in Pakistan’s financial technology landscape, representing the country’s first branchless banking service and, more recently, its first digital retail bank. The logo’s evolution over the years mirrors the transformation of a simple mobile money transfer tool into a comprehensive digital financial platform serving millions of Pakistanis.
About Easypaisa Logo
Easypaisa traces its origins to Tameer Microfinance Bank, which was founded in September 2005 by Nadeem Hussain, a former Citibanker who envisioned a scalable, impact-driven microfinance institution. In 2008, Telenor Pakistan acquired a majority stake in Tameer Microfinance Bank, setting the stage for a historic collaboration.
History of Easypaisa
In October 2009, Telenor Pakistan and Tameer Microfinance Bank jointly launched Easypaisa as Pakistan’s first branchless banking solution. The service initially operated through USSD channels, allowing users to send money and conduct basic financial transactions without a smartphone. Easypaisa was cited by CNN as a model for mobile banking rollouts globally. In 2016, Telenor acquired the remaining 49% stake in Tameer, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary, and the bank was subsequently renamed Telenor Microfinance Bank in 2017. A landmark partnership followed in 2018 when Ant Group, an affiliate of China’s Alibaba Group and operator of Alipay, acquired a 45% stake in Telenor Microfinance Bank, investing a total of $184.5 million. This partnership brought advanced technology, AI-driven capabilities, and international expertise to the platform. In January 2025, Easypaisa received Pakistan’s first digital bank licence from the State Bank of Pakistan, formally completing its transformation into a full-fledged digital retail bank.
